The visit of Claudio Tapia to the Mario Alberto Kempes left behind a political and institutional snapshot: the AFA president met with the presidents of the main clubs from Córdoba during the National Team match. The image, shared from the stadium box, also showed representatives from Belgrano, Instituto, Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, Racing de Córdoba and Talleres.

A photo with institutional weight

The scene took place in the context of the Argentina National Team match and once again placed Córdoba at the center of the country’s football map. In the post shared by Tapia, the presence of the leaders of several clubs from the province reflected a meeting that brought together, for at least a few hours, different realities of Córdoba football under one roof.

Among those present was even Andrés Fassi, president of Talleres, which gave the gathering even greater institutional significance. The snapshot, taken from the Kempes, captured a moment of coexistence between the AFA leadership and much of the local football hierarchy.

The setting for a special night in Córdoba

The meeting took place during the National Team’s visit to the Kempes, a historic venue for Argentine football and for several of the night’s protagonists as well. That same evening, Cristian “Cuti” Romero played again at the stadium where he made his professional debut with Belgrano ten years ago, and he did so also making his debut as captain after Lionel Messi's retirement.

It was also a night of debuts for several players in Lionel Scaloni's cycle. Among them were:

  • Román Vega
  • Santiago Simón
  • Ezequiel Fernández
  • Valentín Gómez
  • Leonel Flores

The day ended with a solid performance from the national side, which beat Bolivia and reinforced the sense of continuity in this post-Messi era.

Córdoba, back at the center of the map

Beyond the sporting result, attention also fell on the relationship between the AFA and the province’s clubs. The presence of officials from Belgrano, Instituto, Estudiantes de Río Cuarto, Racing de Córdoba and Talleres at the Kempes was a sign of institutional dialogue in a setting that, once again, brought together the National Team and football politics.

On a night full of symbolism, Córdoba not only hosted the National Team: it also served as a meeting point for much of its local leadership.
