Rosario Central Kept Control and Finished It with Ten Men to Seal a Clear 2-0 Win

Rosario Central beat Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto 2-0 at Estadio Dr. Lisandro de la Torre and posted very convincing numbers to back up the result. With more possession, more shots and a far superior attacking volume, the home side ended up imposing its quality.

Rosario Central beat 2-0 Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto and the scoreline matched what the numbers showed. The home side controlled the match with 64% possession, took 15 shots and created chances worth 1.1 goals, compared with just 1 shot and 0.1 in expected output from the visitors.

Tactical reading

The main difference was territorial dominance and the ability to sustain initiative. Rosario Central, in a 4-2-3-1, kept the ball far longer than Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto, who lined up in a 4-4-1-1 but failed to turn that structure into attacking presence. The gap in shots was also very clear: 15 to 1, with 6 shots on target for the home side and only 1 for the visitors.

In that context, the result does not seem exaggerated or accidental. Rosario Central generated 1.1 goals and finished with 2, a difference that reflects a reasonable level of efficiency in a match it controlled. On the other side, Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto hardly carried any weight in attack: its output of just 0.1 and its lone shot on target make it clear that it never managed to sustain a constant threat.

The cards also help explain how the match unfolded. Rosario Central did not receive any yellow cards, while Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto picked up 4, a sign that it was under greater pressure in the duel and spent much of the game chasing the ball. Added to that was the sending-off of G. Avila in the 72', a detail that does not alter the overall meaning of the match, but does mark a turning point in the closing stages.

The standout performers

The best ratings of the match went to Rosario Central, and not by chance:

  • J. Fernandez: 8.0, as well as opening the scoring with his goal in the 44'.
  • E. Coronel: 8.0, also on the scoresheet, in the 86', to put the match away.
  • Ignacio Ovando: 7.6, maintaining a high level within the winning side.

The ratings distribution reinforces the idea of a more complete home team in every phase. Fernández not only left his mark on the scoreboard, but also posted the top rating alongside Coronel. In a match where Rosario Central had more of the ball, more shots and more presence in the opposition half, the high ratings of its main figures complete the picture.

The moment that definitively tipped the story is J. Fernandez's goal in the 44', because it came just before halftime and turned dominance into an advantage. From there, Rosario Central managed the tempo of the match better and found the second blow only in the 86' through E. Coronel, sealing the 2-0.

In short, Rosario Central won with clear statistical backing: more possession, more shots, more chances created and better individual ratings. Estudiantes de Rio Cuarto, by contrast, was far behind in attacking production and barely managed to trouble them.
