Rosario Central thrashed by 5-0 and shares the top of Zone B
The Canalla produced one of the standout routs of matchday 12 of the Clausura and moved to the summit alongside Belgrano and Argentinos Juniors. Meanwhile, San Lorenzo edged it by the narrowest of margins and the Vicente López derby ended all square.
In a matchday 12 that began to shape the fight for the Torneo Clausura playoffs, Rosario Central stole the spotlight with a 5-0 rout of Independiente Rivadavia. The Rosario side not only picked up three huge points, but also moved to the top of their zone, on a day that also featured tight wins and one derby with no winner.
The rout that changed the pulse of the matchday
The performance by the Canalla was the most emphatic of Sunday’s early kick-off and put them squarely into the title race. In a tightly packed table, winning by 5-0 is not just about the result: it also strengthens their momentum at this stage of the tournament.
The other side of the top end of the zone was provided by Belgrano, who also landed a heavy blow by beating Racing at the Cilindro. With that win, the Pirata reached 22 points in Zona B and shares top spot with Rosario Central and Argentinos Juniors, who remain firmly in the hunt.

San Lorenzo celebrated and the derby ended level
Beyond the Rosario rout, Sunday also brought other important developments. San Lorenzo beat Riestra 1-0, a narrow but valuable result to keep adding points.
In the Vicente López derby, Platense and Argentinos Juniors drew 1-1. That result allowed the Bicho to stay among the front-runners in the race for the top.
The annual table, another parallel battle
The day does not only affect the playoff crossovers in the Clausura. The discussion over the tabla anual also remains open, with the two tournaments of the Primera División combined and the map of international competitions for next season taking shape.
In that standings board, Boca sits one point behind the leader, while River is in Sudamericana qualification zone. The focus on the combined table adds pressure to every remaining matchday, because continental qualification is also at stake.
With the top half of the tables in full swing, matchday 12 left one certainty: the Clausura is entering a phase in which every result can reshuffle both the tournament standings and the international outlook for Argentine teams.
