Jorge Sampaoli's spell at Talleres reached a decisive point after the coach submitted his resignation and met with the club hierarchy to resolve his future. The situation worsened because of a very poor run of form and the defeat to Gimnasia de Mendoza.
Gimnasia M. beat Talleres 3-1 at the Victor Legrotaglie and backed up the result with more clear chances: it generated 2.5 expected goals to 1.2. Even with less possession, it was sharper and found its star in A. Modica.
The 1-1 left a fairly clear picture: Vélez had more of the ball, but Defensa y Justicia created more danger and more shots. The difference in attacking output was greater than the scoreline.
The referee addressed the handball claim made by El Calamar in Vicente López and defended the decision taken in the match against Boca. He also explained why the VAR, led by Lucas Novelli, did not intervene.
