Boca now knows who will officiate its trip to Independiente in Matchday 14
The Liga Profesional confirmed the appointments for the round, and Sunday’s match in Avellaneda already has a referee. Boca will head into that game with its place in the Sudamericana final secured and its battle in the Torneo Clausura still open.
Boca already knows who will officiate its next match in the Torneo Clausura. The Liga Profesional announced the appointments for fecha 14, and Sunday’s clash with Independiente will have Nazareno Arasa as the main referee in a round packed with important fixtures.
The news comes at a time of intense activity for Vasco Arruabarrena's team, which has just reached the final of the Sudamericana and is still alive in the domestic championship. At the same time, the schedule also leaves a tight outlook for the closing stretch of the regular phase, with three dates still to be played and the bracket for the round of 16 already taking shape.
Matchday 14 and the biggest games
The official schedule included several standout matches:
- Banfield vs. Lanús, on Saturday, in the southern derby.
- Independiente vs. Boca, on Sunday.
- River vs. Racing, also on Sunday.
In addition, the refereeing announcement brought other important decisions: Arasa will be in charge of Independiente-Boca, Rey Hilfer will officiate River-Racing, and Tello was assigned to Banfield-Lanús. Meanwhile, Daniel Zamora and Jorge Baliño were left out for this round, while Lamolina remains suspended.
A Boca side coming in on two fronts
The Xeneize's present combines the local front with international ambition. Arruabarrena's side beat Vasco da Gama 3-1 at the Maracaná, turned the tie around 3-2, and became the first team to qualify for the Sudamericana final, where they await the winner of Montevideo City Torque-Atlético Mineiro.
After that qualification, the coach praised his squad's performance and left a forceful line about the group's moment:
Vasco Arruabarrena: "We deserved to go through".
He also admitted that he still has goals to complete with the team:
Vasco Arruabarrena: "If we don't win anything, I'll have to get the hell out of here".
With that scenario, Boca is preparing to keep its fight alive in the Clausura and arrive in good shape to a schedule that offers no respite, between the domestic tournament and the continental showdown.
