Boca struck again and already has the Annual Table in the bag. The team from La Ribera beat Defensa y Justicia and took the first step in a final stretch that could leave it with a huge season.

Now the picture is crystal clear: it has three objectives left and all of them matter. There is no room to ease off. Xeneize is still alive in the Copa Argentina semifinal, is also in the Copa Sudamericana final and has already secured its place in the Torneo Clausura playoffs.

A 2026 finish with several fronts open

Winning the Annual Table is no small thing. Boca has already taken a big step in the race to close out the season and, based on the picture left by the last matchday, it can still add more celebrations before 2026 ends.

The commitments ahead are these:

  • Copa Argentina semifinal
  • Copa Sudamericana final
  • Torneo Clausura playoffs

In other words: this is not a team that simply reached the end of the calendar. Boca is in a position to seriously contend for several titles at the same time.

The international picture is also taking shape

While Boca keeps moving forward, several Argentine clubs are also starting to settle into the map of next season's cups. The context shows that some teams have already secured their ticket to international tournaments, although not all are in the same situation.

In that sense, Estudiantes is still fighting to reach the next Copa Sudamericana: it finished eleventh in the Annual Table and will have to wait for a place to open up to qualify. If not, it has the other route: win the Libertadores to qualify for the Sudamericana 2027.

On the other side, Independiente has already run out of chances to reach cups through the Annual Table. Its only way to play internationally will be to win the Torneo Clausura.

Boca, with one more boost before the semifinal

At the same time, Xeneize received news that gives it some breathing room for what is coming: Merentiel and Montero were not called up by their national teams and will be available against Banfield. The only player it will lose during the FIFA window is Williams Alarcón, called up by Chile.

Boca, then, arrives with an important base to keep fueling its ambition. It has already won the Annual Table. And now it is going for everything else.
