Independiente-Boca, River-Racing and Banfield-Lanús already have referees for Matchday 14 of the Clausura
Liga Profesional has confirmed the officiating appointments for a round that will feature high-voltage clashes in the Torneo Clausura. Among them, the South derby, Independiente-Boca and River-Racing stand out.
The Matchday 14 of the Torneo Clausura already has confirmed referees, and the schedule arrives with several of the heaviest fixtures on the calendar. Liga Profesional announced the appointments for a round that will put three high-impact duels under the microscope: Banfield-Lanús on Saturday, and Independiente-Boca and River-Racing on Sunday.
The strongest matches of the round
The first major attraction will be the South derby between Banfield and Lanús, with Tello as the main referee.
On Sunday, meanwhile, there will be two matches with huge nationwide attention:
- Independiente-Boca, with Arasa as referee.
- River-Racing, with Rey Hilfer appointed to officiate.
The mix of derbies and heavyweight histories makes this one of the most sensitive rounds of the Clausura, in which every refereeing decision is inevitably under the spotlight.
What happened with Zamora, Baliño and Lamolina
Daniel Zamora and Jorge Baliño were not included in the next round of the championship after the scandal in Junín. Lamolina is also still out.
The absence of Zamora and Baliño from the Matchday 14 list was one of the points that caused the most noise in the announcement, because it confirms that the refereeing team was also affected by the atmosphere of scrutiny left by that controversy.
A Clausura that is increasingly sensitive
Beyond the names involved, Matchday 14 arrives at a moment when several teams are still fighting for important objectives. Boca, for example, is going through a season in which it remains alive in the Copa Argentina, is still in contention in the Torneo Clausura, and has just reached the final of the Sudamericana.
In such a tight competition, the confirmation of the referees is no minor detail: many times, the match also starts being played before the opening whistle.
