A strong start and a tense finish

A win that matters in the Clausura standings
The victory carries weight because of the broader context of the championship. According to the Torneo Clausura 2026 standings, the qualification picture for the playoffs is already taking shape, while the annual table is also starting to come into focus.
In that scenario, every point counts, and Racing needed to pick up three again in order not to lose ground in a stage of the competition where several teams are beginning to look both at the qualification spots and the battle to improve their position in the aggregate table.
The rest of the matchday also shook things up
The round also featured other matches that affect that wider race for the playoffs. Argentinos Juniors beat Tigre 2-1 in La Paternal, ended a three-match winless run and moved back to the top of group B with 21 points.
In addition, ahead of other matches in the round, key fixtures stood out such as Riestra vs. Central Córdoba, Banfield vs. Rosario Central, Estudiantes vs. Gimnasia de Mendoza and Vélez vs. Platense, all with a direct impact on a table that is beginning to take shape.
For Racing, then, the 2-1 in Río Cuarto was not just an away win: it was an important step in a Clausura that is already entering the decisive stretch.
