Argentinos Juniors’ 2-1 win over Racing was backed by a clear gap in production: 66% possession, 21 shots and chances for 2.7 goals. The early red card to Adrián Martínez, in the 21', marked a turning point in a match that still featured a period of real competition.
The 1-0 over Gimnasia M. leaves a clear reading: Instituto produced far more than the scoreline reflected. With 15 shots, 7 on target and 2.3 in chances created, it carried the attacking weight against a rival that scarcely threatened.
Boca Juniors and Vélez Sarsfield drew 1-1 at the Estadio Alberto J. Armando, in a match where the home side controlled the ball, took far more shots, and created enough chances to win. Even so, Vélez held on to the result with an efficient response and Tomás Marchiori as one of the standout performers.
The club is working on the pitch at the Alberto J. Armando with the goal of getting it back in time for the next fixture. The state of the grass has once again drawn attention while the squad remains focused on the Torneo Clausura and the race for continental places.
